Why Bianca St. Louis’ tweetstorm is my Nominee for this Week’s “Best of the Internet”
We all know the internet can be a place that showcases the best and unfortunately the worst of humanity. But instead of promoting the insensitivity, slander, and open letter outrages, I’ve decided to share posts, articles, podcasts and images that I found to promote the best of what the internet can be.
I’m a PK. For my tech folks that may not be familiar with the term, it means Preacher’s Kid. My Dad had been in ministry every since I can remember but the cadence at which we attended church ratcheted up significantly when I was 10 years old. That was when my father started pastoring a small church in the suburbs of Little Rock, Arkansas. Over time I got really good at occupying my mind thanks to my imagination. So if I felt like I was hearing a redundant speech, I would begin visualizing (I was way ahead of my time) success for tests or sporting event.
However, sometimes the during Sunday or Wednesday night services (I told you the cadence increased!) a minister would invite anyone to share what was going on in their life in what was called “testimony service.” For about 20–25 minutes the floor was open to any church member to speak and share a praise report or prayer request (it was essentially implementing the agile framework). Despite my zen level of focus on meditation as an adolescent, sometimes a testimony would resonate with me as something that was inspiring because I had a similar challenge or had gone thru a similar challenge. Those experiences when I actually paid attention, I found myself wiser and stronger because I knew I was apart of a larger community.

An Inspirational Career Journey Tweetstorm from @NaithanJonesmedium.com
So you may be wondering, wtf does that anecdote have to do with my nomination for this week’s “Best of the Internet?” Glad you asked. When I came across Bianca L. St.Louis Tweetimony, I felt just as I did at testimony service. I was going through the motions scrolling through my timeline when I saw:
And that concept definitely resonated with me. So I read her corresponding tweets and the result was the same as testimony service in the 90s. I left wiser and stronger because I was inspired by something bigger than the obstacles before me.
Below is Bianca’s entire tweetstorm. Hope you feel as inspired as I did. — ES #readingEarnest
